Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) endorsed Dave McCormick in the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race over the weekend.

“[Dave McCormick] is the right choice for [the U.S. Senate]. Enjoyed catching up this weekend. Let’s win in Pennsylvania and take back the Senate Majority,” Blackburn wrote in an X post alongside a photo of her and the Pennsylvania candidate.

McCormick (pictured above with Sen. Blackburn) is running against incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) in this year’s U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania as he advanced in the Republican primary last month with no GOP challenger.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed McCormick before the primary election last month, saying at the time, “[McCormick] wants to run a good ship.”

“He’s a smart guy, who was a very successful guy. He’s given up a lot to do this,” Trump added.

McCormick also ran in the 2022 U.S. Senate race but failed to garner enough votes to become the Republican Party’s nominee as a result of his second place finish in the primary.

Trump endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz – who went on to be defeated by incumbent U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) – in the 2022 election.

McCormick is an Army veteran who was nominated to the United States Military Academy and went on to serve in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was deployed to the Middle East during the First Gulf War and received the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq before retiring as a Captain.

After retiring from the Army, McCormick earned his Ph.D. in international relations from Princeton University before moving to Pittsburgh to start a career in business, eventually becoming the CEO of FreeMarkets.

In 2005, McCormick served as Under Secretary of Treasury and later as Deputy National Security Advisor in the George W. Bush Administration

Following the Bush Administration, McCormick joined Bridgewater Associates until he resigned to run in the 2022 U.S. Senate race.
